Family Sessions

Life-inspired family portraits

Lifestyle family photography

There are many types of family photographers out there. Some are more formal, they have you stand together in a pose that may feel a little awkward. Then, there are the family photographers who take a more natural or lifestyle approach. These photographers don’t fuss so much about having everyone look at the camera, but more so about capturing honest, genuine connection. And that is where my heart is. Natural. Joyful. Authentic family portraiture.

My goal is to capture your family authentically. Who you REALLY are right now. I will guide you into natural poses and do recommend that you keep smiling (among other great tips in that link right there) through the entire shoot. But it’s nothing forced or unnatural. I mostly encourage interaction, connection and genuine emotion through games and play all while creating a safe space for everyone to relax and enjoy the family portrait experience. I strive to capture your family just as you are – smiles, frowns, quirks, silliness, tears, giggles, all of it.

Outdoor family sessions

Outdoor sessions are generally shot one to two hours prior to sunset for best natural lighting. Special accommodations can be made for sunrise sessions as well. The goal is to interact, play, cuddle… whatever is natural to your family.

I’m quick. Family sessions usually last about 45 minutes to an hour. Just long enough to fill your gallery with beautiful images but short enough to avoid any massive meltdowns or fried nerves (the kids, of course – haha!)

These take place in the comforts of your home and incorporate everything about your

family, using your home as the background.

Play games, bake cookies, read books, play in the backyard… just your family being YOU!

Lifestyle photography sessions last about one to two hours, allowing for breaks throughout the session (while I keep clicking away).
