Simple + Natural In-Home Newborn Twin Session | Phoenix Newborn Photographer
Once upon a time… ALL my newborn sessions took place in my client’s homes. Before I knew myself as an artist, and before I had honed my style as a photographer, I used to drag props and wraps and a posing bean bag all over the Phoenix area “posing” newborn babies thinking that’s what was expected as a newborn photographer. I started declining newborn sessions. I dreaded taking them on. So, one day I decided to ditch the “froggy pose”, refuse the baby-in-a-bucket trend and left all my props in the dust.
And wouldn’t you know it… I found my style as an unposed, simple + natural newborn photographer.
I absolutely adore in-home newborn sessions (and no, I do not charge more for twins - you shouldn’t have to pay more because you were blessed with two babies). They are so incredibly precious, sincere and intimate because they take place in your happy place, home. Now, I will be the first to tell you that In-Home newborn sessions do not appeal to everyone and that’s perfectly fine (because I have studio sessions available for that mama). My Simple + Natural Approach to In-Home Newborn sessions
I like to think of my style as timeless and organic in nature. I generally recommend dressing baby in a snug fitting white onesie and I bring along a neutral swaddle wrap (unless a color is preferred and we’ve made that plan) and bundle them up at the start of every session to get them happy, cozy and encourage them to sleep at least for the some of their session. Unlike posed newborn photographers, I embrace and actually love it when they break free from the swaddle and move their tiny arms and legs into whatever poses or positions are most comfortable and natural for them. I love when I can capture moments of them yawning, stretching, making eye contact, and maybe a little smile. I spend a lot of the session working with the family (even your fur babies - I love them!) as a whole offering directives that encourage snuggling and loving all over your new little one.
It’s always my goal to deliver beautifully emotive, keepsake images that are real, authentic and connected captured moments and not the visual documentation that your brand new baby once fit in a bucket. ;-)
